Prius poll

I wanted to buy a Prius when they first came out, but bought a Corolla instead because:
- Their freeway mileage stats are comparable (Prius is more efficient in stop-and-go & local commute)
- Even at $5 a gallon it would take 17 years for the price difference to be paid off, assuming 55mpg for Prius and 30mpg for Corolla
- Rear sight lines on the Prius are very limited, making driving less safe
- GPS location takes eyes off the road

I love the look, it has more zip than the Corolla, the controls seem easier once you get used to them, and they pollute less.

The software glitches alarming, but IMHO the fact that Toyota has chosen to deny them instead of seriously investigating them is worse than the glitches themselves.

Just curious, because many of you are Prius owners:

Can you add a "none of the above/I've had no issues with my Prius" entry? Thank you.

Woz was going 110 on I-10 near Vegas, he knew what he was doing.
No, the report on speeding on cruise control he made was a newer report. On I5, he set up cruise control and the car kept going faster and faster. Depending on when and where you set cruise control, that can happen, period. There are certain long slope areas where CC won't be stable. I know several places where that can happen, even this last time when I had a rental instead of my Prius. So until we know specifics, don't know if it is Toyota CC or what. And I think he was reporting a 2010 for that. Apparently there was some major program re-writing for the 2010.

Just to let you know, I've had no problems with my beast either. And I still have the floor mats in and everything.
I didn't get their gps, I have a separate machine. But the screen is useful. I heard that 2010 doesn't have it, I will miss it.
Rear view, I learned the trick of using the darker part below and the two rear mirrors. The bar actually seems to cut down on Headlight Glare, so I'm not complaining.
Toyota does its best to repair computer glitches, but if they can't duplicate it, it is real hard to even begin to find the errant line of code.
I do know that my car went through two recalls for reprogramming.
