Dec. 5th, 2006 10:53 pmIt is with some degree of squee that I announce my bettas, who have been going through the motions of mating since a week before I moved, now have a tank full of teeny tiny babies. There seem to be two sizes, which tells me two sets of eggs hatched. I wouldn't have noticed, except I decided today was the day to fill the tank back to the top, after having drained it 2/3 of the way for the move.

THE PAPA!!!!! SEDUCTION
NoDaddy.com
Random thought which occurred to me this morning: many young women who are interested in men my age have this daddy thing going on. And they expect it to be reciprocal. I personally do not get off on being called "daddy". I think it's because I've never had kids and so don't have that particular forbidden fantasy, and I'm not turned on by dumb and helpless. But I definitely am turned on by young and perky. Smart helps.

Date: 2006-12-07 01:15 am (UTC)Yeah, cool stuff. Siamese fighting fish are very easy to breed, but the infant mortality rate is very high. And the mother often doesn't survive long either. Dad basically wraps himself around Mom and squeezes the eggs out little by little, and this time he was at it for a couple of days. Then he builds a nest of bubbles at the surface and spits the eggs into it.
The nest has dissipated, I need to get some floating plants for the babies to hide in/feed from. Bettas are know to eat their own young...
