Dec. 5th, 2006 10:53 pmIt is with some degree of squee that I announce my bettas, who have been going through the motions of mating since a week before I moved, now have a tank full of teeny tiny babies. There seem to be two sizes, which tells me two sets of eggs hatched. I wouldn't have noticed, except I decided today was the day to fill the tank back to the top, after having drained it 2/3 of the way for the move.

Dad basically wraps himself around Mom and squeezes the eggs out little by little, and this time he was at it for a couple of days. Then he builds a nest of bubbles at the surface and spits the eggs into it.
The nest has dissipated, I need to get some floating plants for the babies to hide in/feed from. Bettas are know to eat their own young...
